NO NO NO, YOU IDIOTS. THIS IS SIMPLE PHYSICS.

 - The door FRAME is staying afloat because buoyancy (upwards pressure) is the same as the downwards pressure caused by the weight.

Considering that the wooden door FRAME dimensions are 2.5 x 1.5 x 10 cm and that the wood density is approximately 500 kg/m3. The total mass is 500x2.5x1.5x0.1 +  55 = 242.5 kg which results in a total weight of 242.5x9.81 = 2378.925 N.

The buoyancy is defined as B = fluid density x displaced volume x gravity and must be equal to the total wight, so : 1000 x 2.5 x 1.5 x H x 9.81 = 273.925 N, which results in that the portion of the door actually below the water surface is only 6.5 cm of the total depth (10cm)

If Jack was over the door FRAME (with Rose) the total mass would be: FRAME mass + Rose + Jack = 500x2.5x1.7x0.1 + 55 + 70 = 312 kg which results in a total weight of 312.5 x 9.81 = 3065.625 N.

Doing the same as before ( computing the buoyancy and blah blah blah) we find out that in  this case the door would be 8.3 cm under water. ( The total door frame is only 3 cm).

So my conclusion is that the door shouldnt have held either of them.
